Shari Babajide
M.Sc. Climate Change and Energy (Physics) (Abdou Moumouni University, Niger)
Info
Shari Babajide had been a Guest Researcher within the Research Unit Off-Grid Systems at RLI from June until October 2022. He was a PhD candidate at the Abdou Moumouni University, Niger in the Climate Change and Energy Doctoral Research Program of the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL).
His research focused on modelling the dynamics of low-carbon transitions towards an integrated energy planning. He was especially interested in developing energy transition pathways for developing countries especially Nigeria using oemof, system dynamics modelling, occasional presentation and energy systems flexibility assessment.
At RLI, he was supporting the Off-Grid Team in utilization of research outcomes for Nigeria and West-Africa within the PeopleSUN project and other projects. Shari holds a Bachelor and a Master degree in Physics at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and University of Ibadan, respectively and another Research master in Climate Change and Energy at the Abdou Moumouni University, Niger. Apart from his work at RLI he also worked for Climax Mega-top Multipurpose Ent. and as a volunteer in the PYPSA meet Africa project.
Tasks at RLI were
- Development of energy transition pathways for Nigeria
- Analysis and optimization energy system plan
- Modelling with oemof, RAMP-model
- Analysis and utilization of research outcomes
