Open Science and Datenmanagement

We orientate ourselves on the principles of open science and try to make a large part of our scientific work accessible. This forms the technical and legal basis for scientific reproducibility and genuine participation in the transformation of energy systems.

The open-source approach makes our work more efficient by reducing double efforts. It also facilitates collaboration and helps to use public funding responsibly. In practice, we rely on publishing our programmed models and calculated data under open licenses, creating documentation and extensive metadata, using open-source tools, and actively sharing knowledge and experience.

We have successfully applied open and collaborative energy system research in a number of research projects. The software tools developed and the communities created can be found on GitHub as well as on our own platforms, such as the OpenEnergyPlatform.
