Carolin Daam had been a Researcher in the RLI Research Unit Mobility with Renewable Energy from November 2018 until October 2022. As part of the ElMobile Berlin project, she was working on the connection between charging infrastructure and electric vehicles on air quality. In addition, she dealt with the grid integration of electric vehicles and investigated the effects of different charging strategies on the energy system.
Carolin had already worked at RLI since October 2017 as a student assistant and wrote her master's thesis titled “Model-based investigation of the economic aspects of the use of electric vehicles in the municipal context” in context of her work. For this, she examined the economic and ecologic effects of the electrification of municipal fleets. She holds a master's degree in Renewable Energy Systems and a bachelor’s degree in Energy and Process Engineering, both from TU Berlin.
Tasks at RLI were
- Contact person for municipal mobility concepts and vehicle fleet analyses
- Investigation of locations for the expansion of charging infrastructure and effects on air quality
- Analysis of charging strategies and flexibility options of electric vehicles
- Simulation, optimization and analysis of energy systems with renewable energies
